the season is in full swing now

Posted on January 29th, 2009 by keith under Cornwallis Results, Valley Springs Results.

We’ve been having some great turnouts here lately.   And that means opportunities to rack up some points.

Johnny Blackburn has taken full advantage of this at Cornwallis, posting a sizable lead.  Ed Kushill is doing a pretty good job of it at Valley, especially for one of the grandmaster crowd. : )

There’s still plenty of time left for everyone else out there to mount a challenge.  With the big crowds you can put up some big numbers.

Christmas doubles report

Posted on December 26th, 2008 by keith under Cornwallis Results, Valley Springs Results.

The last couple weeks at Cornwallis have seen Johnny Blackburn take a sizable lead.  Johnny won one with Robbie Crownover and another with Danny Hill.  Don Moore and Dennis Close got a second place finish as did Matt Keatts and Todd.  Ed Kushill dropped one in on #3 for a 17 dollar ace pool.

Over at the Valley Matt and Johnny got a win two weeks ago and the Johny and Dennis got one last week.  Must say - seeing Johnny’s name a lot here.

Ed and Keith won a three way playoff for second place and Matt and Robbie got one the next week.

Scores will be updated soon.  I cannot get to the spreadsheet at this time.  Thank you for your patience.

Sunday at Valley Springs

Posted on December 7th, 2008 by Robdunn under Valley Springs Results.

Eight of us braved the cold and wind this morning.   It was hard to hold on to the cold disc and then the wind would have it’s way with the disc if you did get off a good shot.  Allen Michell and Ed Kushill beat Keith Sanders and Don Moore on the second playoff hole after they tied at 2 down in regulation, playing a regular front and long back.

See ya next weekend

Catching up on the doubles action

Posted on December 3rd, 2008 by Robdunn under Cornwallis Results, Valley Springs Results.

Been out of town lately so let me get everyone up to date.  Two weekends ago Jack and Dennis edged out Mike K and Mike P and got 29 points for their effort.  There were 11 players in attendance.  The next day at Valley Springs it was Matt and Don over Jerry and Ed for their 29 point win.  Eleven disc golfers showed up for Valley as well.

Then this last weekend Johnny and Don won a low scoring event at Cornwallis with an 11 down, edging out 3 other teams at 10.  Keith and Jack won the ensuring playoff for second place on the fourth playoff hole (#6).  Jerry Roach sent a smooth shot down the left side of #17 that hyzered into the basket to let Jerry gather a 36 dollar ace pool for himself.

it was in all the way

Finally on Sunday at Valley, playing in really nice rain, Matt and Jack cruised to a 3 throw win over two other teams.  Jerry and Ed took second place over Keith and Johhny.  That’s two weeks in a row that the Lefty Duo took second place at Valley.  What could this mean?  Let the speculation begin.

Check out the the current standings for Cornwallis and Valley Springs.

Weekend Doubles in Durham

Posted on November 6th, 2008 by Robdunn under Cornwallis Results, Valley Springs Results.

We had beautiful weather out there this weekend.  Lots of yellow and red leaves - watch where your disc goes!

Out at Cornwallis, we had 15 folks show up.   Hermes Portillo, a newcomer, and Matt Keatts took first place on the long course with a 10 down.  Tied at 9 down for second place were jacket barkley and Scott Roberts vs Justin Stewart playing odd man.  Justin  took it on the first playoff hole with a birdie.

Then on Sunday at Valley Springs, Hermes Portillo paired up with Brent Allison to win first place in  a field of 11.  Matt Keatts and Keith Sanders tied Mike Pace for second and Matt and Keith took it on #2 with a birdie.

After the round we put up the new signs bought by the Durham Parks and Rec Dept.   They really look very good.

Don’t forget, next weekend is the Bull City Shootout at Forest Hills.  They are still a few spots left.
